Hello ACCESS Resource Provider Community!

We want to share some important info with you re. the transition to CONECTnet:

Here at the beginning of the operational phase of ACCESS, some XSEDE services are transitioning.  One of those is XSEDEnet, the operational networking peering services between ACCESS Resource Providers (RP). XSEDEnet is transitioning to CONECTnet which is its follow-on advancement, providing operational data transfer service insight and network troubleshooting insight.

As we work with the network service provider (Internet2) to improve the peering administration and support, ACCESS Network and Data Transfer Services (NDTS) has taken over XSEDEnet and continues to operate it during the transition timeframe.  NDTS will systematically build Internet2 OESS paths working with RP Network Engineers to turn up new peerings to CONECTnet. Once these paths are verified to be operational, RP Network Engineers can modify peerings to direct traffic to CONECTnet. Once XSEDEnet has been deprecated, NDTS will communicate that it is safe to take those peerings down. We look forward to this advancementWe have a few important updates for you this week:

Allocations Query Tool

For Resource Providers and Allocations Managers who are responsible for reviewing allocation requests and actions (transfers, supplements, extensions, etc.) the Allocations Query tool is now available at: https://xacct-admin.access-ci.org/login

If you’re responsible for reviewing allocation requests for your resource(s), but don’t have privileges to the tool, please create a ticket to the Allocations queue.

Reminder re. RP Slack channel

The ACCESS-RP Slack channel has been established as a tool for informal communication between ACCESS program staff and Resource Providers. We encourage you to use this to share pertinent information with one another and to build a network of collaborators among RPs and the ACCESS program. This channel is not intended for primary technical support – for technical issues requiring immediate attention, you should submit a ticket via the ACCESS MATCH Portal.

You can join the Slack channel by clicking : https://join.slack.com/t/rpaccesscommu-wyz4369/shared_invite/zt-1eph1a7za-gFDx9V9FPT0cLMIDihIBIg

Infrastructure News Publishing

ACCESS integrated RPs are strongly encouraged to publish planned and unplanned outages and resource configuration changes using the ACCESS Infrastructure News. Instructions on requesting access and posting infrastructure news in the Operational Status Communications document.

Infrastructure news published through ACCESS are visible to researchers on the ACCESS Support Portal - Outages Page and helps ACCESS staff respond to tickets related to outages or resource changes. This is important since staff that triage tickets and route them to RPs may not have access to the resources themselves and thus would not receive outage news that RPs send to their users.

ACCESS will soon cross post Infrastructure News to ACCESS Affinity groups that researchers can subscribe to so that they can receive infrastructure availability information as soon as it is published. Please contact

Identity Provider Portal

The ACCESS identity provider at https://idp.access-ci.org/ has increased session timeouts to 18 hours.  This will allow authenticated users to access resources without re-authenticating for 18 hours which for most users covers a work day.
